The Leading Edge Arts Project is an initiative which provides theatre workshops for young people with the main emphasis on exploring the creativity and building the confidence of every student. WE bring Broadway and the West End TO YOU.

You matter to us and we pride ourselves as problem solvers! LEAP will work within your budgetary needs to create the most rewarding and unforgettable experience for your performers.

Every single workshop is completely unique because we work with the individual needs and talents of each group, making it totally tailor made and very special for each participant. If your students want to write, create art, make films, choreograph, direct, act, play music, write music, form a band, then we can't wait to have them in the room and see the diversity of talent and interests they have.

Get ready for an in-depth and uniquely tailored perspective that can come only from our LEAP Creative team. All artists bring their own unique approach and understand the importance of encouraging, supportive, and nurturing feedback.

"The Leading Edge Arts project have delivered two engaging, exciting, energetic and hugely worthwhile workshops at Saint Martin's. Zach Morris is passionate and professional and works non-stop to get the best out of each student. He certainly lives by his message of valuing each individual as every performer who attended the workshops left having contributed something valuable and with a real boosted feeling of confidence and zeal for the performing arts."

LEAP uses professional actor/facilitators with extensive theatre credits from the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and West End, but crucially, who also have lots of experience working and facilitating the work of young people.

LEAP can come in to your school and run workshops for an hour, an afternoon, a day, a week...whatever works best for you. We can also work with you on themes, so if your students are working on Shakespeare or any specific set texts, we can devise a workshop for you based on this.

Here are some samples of workshops we provide. If you have a more specific request for a workshop, please do let us know and we would love to create something for you. All of our workshops are tailor made to suit the school and students, so there's no extra cost if you have a specific requirement.

SHAKESPEARE

Your students will work with our professional ex-Royal Shakespeare Company actor/facilitators to explore Shakespeare's text. Students will be led through exercises which explore the richness of language, themes and theatricality of Shakespeare. They will also come out UNDERSTANDING IT! They will translate passages in to their own words and find characters and scenarios to relate to. An amazing complimentary experience to any Shakespeare set text, or as an introduction to his work. This workshop works brilliantly at both primary and secondary level.

CONFIDENCE and FOCUS

One of the special things about LEAP is the twinning of theatre practice with confidence and mindset coaching. Our students tell us how they feel better equipped to deal with challenges or self doubt after these sessions. Exercises include prompted journalling, writing anonymous letters to each other sharing what they admire in each other, and teaching breathing and focus techniques to help calm nerves before exams or performances. This is a great one for secondary pupils nearing exam time to help them view their exams and workload with a calm and confident focus. It is equally great for any students with SEN requirements or students who have challenging behaviour.

THEATRE and DEVISING

A workshop which supports any English, drama, theatre or music course. Our super experienced team of actor/facilitators share the skills and techniques they've used in professional rehearsal rooms in the best theatres in the country, and create work with your students. An incredible experience particularly for drama students.

INSIDE POETRY

Your students will work with professional spoken word poets to help explore the world of poetry both in a theatrical and written sense. They'll create their own poetry (written or spoken) as well as exploring set texts. They'll find connections with rap and grime music and find how they can use poetry to express themselves, share a message and make change in the World.

UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY PARTY

It's the end of term and you and your students have been working hard. LEAP provides amazing end of term creative parties where your students will work in teams through drama, theatre and strategy games. They'll have fun creating adverts or mock youtube videos, so they'll be having a brilliant time whilst (secretly!) learning skills of collaboration and team work.

All of our team are, of course, DBS checked and very experienced, and we are always on hand to chat through any queries or requirements. All materials are provided by us, all we need is a classroom and some students!
